Everybody loves a pizza right? Pizza has made people happy for so long. Now with this recipe from Primal Palate you too can make a Paleo pizza crust that is a real winner for everyone! It is also vegan, grain, dairy, egg, nightshade and nut free but yet remains crispy and delicious. So let’s get cooking with this awesome pizza you can have for tonight’s dinner.
For dough :
- 2 cups mashed yucca (peeled, cut into large pieces, boiled until fork tender, drained)
- 1 teaspoon avocado oil (or coconut oil)
- 2 heaping tablespoons palm shortening
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- Dried herbs to taste
- 2 tablespoons coconut flour
For Topping :
- Your favorite pizza sauce
- Your favorite pizza toppings
Step 1: preheat oven
You are going to set your oven to 375 F to preheat before starting.
Step 2: prepare yucca for cooking
Peel yucca and cut into large pieces. Boil until yucca is tender when fork is put in.
Step 3: drain and mash yucca
Once yucca is tender, drain it and begin to mash in a bowl with either a fork or potato masher.
Step 4: combine all ingredients
Using a food processor or Vitamix, combine all ingredients except for the coconut flour and puree until smooth dough is formed.
Step 5: finishing the dough
Empty dough onto a piece of parchment paper. Add in the coconut flour and knead. Allow dough to cool completely, then divide into 2 pieces for two crusts or you can keep as one large crust if you wish.
Step 6: getting it oven ready
Roll out dough to create a crust about 1/2 inch thick or less. Place on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes until browned. Flip over the crust(s) and continue baking until the other side is also browned.
Step 7: create your masterpiece
Once you have a crispy and browned crust you will want to add your favorite pizza sauce and toppings. Remember to keep you “wet” ingredients to a bare minimum as yucca dough can become soggy easily when overloaded with moisture. Place pizza back into oven and bake until your toppings are well done.
