Amazing Paleo Gluten Free Flax Wraps

These delicious wraps are Paleo friendly and gluten free made in a vegetarian style. For those of you who prefer to add some meat, this recipe can easily be adapted to suit your needs. The dough can be prepared in advance and later you fill and serve for a fresh tasty meal. Thanks to Colorful Canary for this fabulous recipe.

Ingredients (Makes 4 Wraps) :

  • 1 ½ cups organic golden flax seeds (ground) (you can substitute brown flax seeds)
  • 1 tbs organic oil (optional)
  • ½ tsp organic cumin (optional)
  • Filtered water
  • Your favorite sauce

For Filling :

  • 1 cup organic peppers
  • 1 cup organic tomatoes
  • 1 cup onions
  • 1 cup lettuce
  • 1 cup avocados (optional)
  • 1 cup organic raised meat of your choice (optional)

Directions For Making Flax Bread (Takes Just Over 1 Hour) :

Step 1: Grind Seeds

Take flax seeds and grind in coffee grinder until looks like a soft flour.

Step 2: (optional step) Pan fry cumin seeds

Add oil to pan and turn on medium-high heat. Add cumin seeds, they should pop if oil is hot enough. This step optional but adds a nice flavor to your wraps. Add infused cumin oil to flax seed flour.

Step 3: Mix water and flour

Begin adding filtered water to flour. Add enough so that the mixture is thoroughly mixed and slimy texture. Desired consistency of dough. Let sit for 1 hour uncovered. Dough will firm so you can roll it out.

Step 4: Make 4 equal pieces

Find a starch to roll out. You can use coconut flour, cornstarch or ancient flour. Oil your hands so mixture won’t stick to hands. Make one log and split to four equal size pieces.

Step 5: Roll and roll till very thin

Roll out very thin like a pizza dough. Add starch as necessary to prevent sticking to surface. Each of four pieces will be as large as possible without rips in the bread.

Step 6: Brown the wraps (optional)

It is possible to keep your bread raw and fill, today we are browning each side lightly. Add some oil to frying pan and heat on medium-high. Pan should sizzle when adding wraps. Repeat for each of four wraps until cooked.

Assemble and Serve :

Start by adding any sauce you like, in this recipe a homemade chili sauce was used.

Step 2: Add sliced tomatoes

Layout some tomatoes slices on each flax wrap.

Step 3: Combine other toppings

Combine lettuce, onion, pepper and any optional toppings. Spread on top of flax bread. Today we are keeping this vegetarian; however you can add any meat toppings you like for example chicken or beef.

Step 4: Roll tight and serve

Roll your flax wraps up tight. Place onto plate and cut in half for serving.
